So How’s Montana??

Press Time

Time : 17:21
When : 14 July 2006
Where : Great Falls International Airport, Business Center
Why : we missed the 5pm flight
How : we tried to get on the chance flight.. but no, the entire airport’s closing

This is how small this city is, at 5pm, there’s no other passengers here aside from us and pretty much everything’s set for closing time. Then again, maybe it’s been closing time like an hour earlier.

So what did Montana give me? A new peach hairband that I adore, new (and my one and only) very owned pair of running shoes! =) I’ve developed some serious muscles lifting the mattresses, endless boxes, etcetera etcetera in and out of the storage room and ravvy. Dragging and undragging the trailer. New found favorites such as Tony Roma’s and Subway. We have an official spot in Starbucks. Made friends with some of the baristas already. New comforter and bedset for our house. Yeah, we got base housing, we’ll move in next month. We’re excited! We ordered our first furniture, the Dining Set. A chocolate colored full cherrywood table with four 30” stools. We fell in love with it the moment we saw it! We found the charming living room set too, have not gotten it yet though. I would say a number of nice people. We went to the base picnic earlier today, it’s pretty mandatory. I didn’t realize there was that much people in the base. I was impressed. We loved the Tahoe, I’ll get him that one day. Eversince we got here, we’ve watched Superman, Click, The Devils wears Prada, and The Pirates. Thank God for movies. Cars: we need to put like an anti-free thing that people plug in (yes, plug in) during the night. The first time we saw it (electric plugs hanging from the hood of the cars) after dinner at Golden Corral, we thought those cars are hybrid cars, two hours later after the oil change, we found out it keeps your car from freezing stone hard. Winter’s pretty bad here.

So how’s freakin’ Montana? it’s actually okay. I have not morphed into the outdoor person meant to move here. I still long for the familiar malls I’ve mastered that impressed a number of the people who knew me. I long for the abundant choices of places to eat. The movie house here is pretty decent. Malls (or strip malls) are staggered. Officially no Express here, the closest one is 3 hours away. No Bebe also, nor Aldo. I remember before we got the base housing, the day we landed, we were house-hunting (literally). Houses here are different from those in Jax, much older and no new construction (nothing I’ve heard of). Weather is nice, not too cold yet. But the nights are cool, we both love it. But rain is weird. On some days, it gives you few drops then it stops, then the cool wind. Then same thing after an hour or two. We opened a new joint account yesterday. They don’t have a Bank of America here, grrr!

But in fairness, Montana, particularly Great Falls (the city we are at), is alright. A lot of room to grow. I think I can survive here – at least this summer! My partner-in-crime’s so fine, that’s a comfort.
