Finally the long awaited call came.. and then some

hear ye, hear ye.. Hubby called.. me - finally!! yesterday, around 1pm. I was having lunch at Panera with good friends then Joe called. I heard morning mass with fellow sfc and promoted an upcoming clp. After that we grabbed lunch at Panera. So ya, he called. [share bits later]. Anyway, we watched a movie last night, The Legend of Zorro. Good movie, most of us enjoyed it. Mi Pappi! The movie was at 6:55. I decided to stay at St. John's Town Center while waiting for them to meet up for the movie at Tinseltown. Lunch wrapped up past 2 so from them on, I fed myself with what were latest in the stores. Spent more than an hour in Dillard's. Walking around the mall [or center for that instance] felt different. Yep, I was alone and umm err, lonely. Since Joe is still in Texas. No worries, spent some quality time with myself. All good. But wait! Yesterday wasn't all about walking around. Let me tell you something I'll never forget. To celebrate the good day yesterday since hubby called, I went in to a salon. As a treat I had my brows waxed. Girls, you get the picture. So as the lady [Persian she emphasized she is], was "fixing" my brows, they turned out to be uneven, so I told her. Then she tried fixing it. The other one was thicker [well, not sooo thick, but to girls that matters] than the other one. She waxed the left brow again. "Okay, sweetie, that looks good." And I was like, "Ok, can I borrow your mirror?" And to my horror!! The left brow was now way thinner than the right brow [the one I like]! Oh my gosh!! I literally gasped for air! The client looked at me and I think I got her worried on what they'll do to her hair. Goodluck girl. sheezzz.. For her not to t-o-u-c-h my brows anymore, I was like.. "Umm okay, I think we're done now." I so wanted to dash out of the salon. Of course, always composed, I went to the restroom and stared at my turning-red brow area and thinking whether I should buy myself some new fancy sunglasses. So I paid her, gave her tip still then left. I went back to Dillard's and went up to this ultra nice gay salesman at Chanel. I was like, "Hi, I am in situation and I'm freaking out. I just had my brows waxed and I believe they're not even." He said. "Oh they look ok.." I said, "No, look closer." "Oh ya, this one's thinner. But I didn't really notice. hmmm, let me fix it." The other customer at Chanel looked at me and I said to her "You see it?" and she just smiled at me. After he made a few plucks from here and there, my brows were more than okay! =) I met up with friends feeling better for the movie. I shared the hilarious story with them. Funny night. Still great. Hubby called me today. It was just an almost 4-minute talk but it helped a lot. I've been waiting for that phone call. And he greeted me Happy 3 weeks wedding anniversary! =) I love you too baby! After movie, talked with friends then headed home. It was a good day - and night.
Today I went out with parentals. Then we had lunch at Sweet Tomatoes, good lunch! yumm! then home, then I have been updating all email stuff and been stuck all day here at base 2. This can be habit-forming. Oh well, at least I've updated you guys! Ola! =)

3 days and counting

three days... it's been hard. well at least today im doing better than the night of oct. 17, afternoon to night of oct. 18, afternoon of oct. 20. oct 19, i think i made it through the day without tears. yay!

but im pathetically trying to busy myself with different things. so you know about the sunday night i drove him to the hotel. sunday night, i was crying so hard. man, that was hard. i didnt tell him i was crying. less drama please. 2.30 i got to sleep. of course monday morning,my eyes were so "normal". he went to our house. i was still in bed when he got here. i cant even look straight into his eyes. my eyes were swollen[darn!]. so he said, "is that from sudden withdrawal from a joseph drug or something like that?" i said, "i think so." then i took my bath then got ready. that was the last day we were together before he flies to texas. so we went to the parents' house. he took care of the last things. he gave me my take-care-of-this list and kept a mental note, and all the little things. had lunch at wasabi, it will be awhile the next time he'll have jap/chinese food at bootcamp. then went around the mall. then to their house. then dinner at panera. i didnt understand if i was actually hungry. i ate anyway, sandwich and soup. then the drive going to a friend's house. all the other young friends gathered there to say bye to joe. some girls cried. i felt for them but good thing i held back. i could have cried a river. on our way there, joe held my hand so tight. i thought he was crying. then off to the ramada hotel. i sat exactly where i was the night before. watched as he checked in, his parents was just a foot away from him. i was jittery again - all over. saying goodbye was really difficult. although i knew it would be barely two months from now that i'll see him again. it was harder than i thought, than we both thought. im terribly missing him, seriously.

the following day, tuesday, the dreaded day, Oct. 18, we watched the swearing [or whatever they really call it] final kiss and hug after. even if we were both sad, so proud we have managed to put smiles on our faces. So proud of you hubby! going home was the difficult part... when i did that tuesday, i was crying a river. cant help it..

almost day 1

so how do i start...

15 mins before midnight, the first night i wont be sleeping next to my husband. i drove him to the hotel earlier tonight. this is really sad. when he was checking in for his room and i sat there on the couch, i almost felt jitters all over, butterflies in my tummy [not in a good way though]. and just for the record, no tears - just yet.

since we got married, we were practically spending 24 hours of each day together, unless he had to go to work. and now im here in my room [our room], alone and finally have all the time in the world to blog[sigh], i wanted to cry so bad, but i cant. i dont know when this will hit me, friends said it hasnt sunk in to me yet. i didnt cry when he proposed, when we got married and up until now. tomorrow's the last time i'll see him, at least for the next 6-8 weeks. my counter's down to 1 day i guess. you have no idea what i'll miss since he's not here with me. i've lost count. i dont know yet how tomorrow's going to be. im wearing the shirt he last wore when we spent the night here at our house. it helps, but he's not here. i can feel my eyes welling up with tears but not a single tear hasnt fell yet. .. this is terrible. i wish i could just let go of the tears, so i'll feel better.

when i left the hotel, driving my [numb] self past the pulled-over cars for over-speeding, i listened to my husband's voice message. well joe, i love you too baby and i'll always be thinking of you. i know ill see you again tomorrow, but i just hope you can just hurry back home. i guess this is harder than we both thought it would be.. im really going to miss you. every minute of each day you'll be away.

PICTURE SHOWER: The Proposal

here are just some of the many pictures from that night when he popped THE QUESTION.
oh my gosh, you have no idea how it felt like..

i secretly wished for something like that, the ring, the setting, the speech.. and never told anyone except that one person i know who'll take me in regardless of whatever sh*t i get myself into - that's my soul sister. then again, it wasnt just all that.. there went the man i am in love with, wanting to spend the rest of his life with me. what's not to say yes to.. I love you Joseph - very very much. really really.

10.6, th
officially mrs. joseph devera. details coming soon. =)

10.7, f
we had the church blessing during the 9am mass at the carmelite monastery. it felt healthier, we both did. my sisters came with us. then we went to visit the queen of the universe shrine in orlando. i kept my promise. i needed to go back. it is indeed such a very special place to me. im glad we made it. had my first hosting of the sfc household meeting. hubby did a great talk. first event as a couple. slept at parents' house that night.

10.8, s
i heard mass with mommy v. then had breakfast at ellen's kitchen. yum.. [starting to really miss my own mama] then did groceries together. had some quality time. saw my hubby hard at work that day. congratulations still coming our way. later that day, attended caleb's 1st birthday. another first. then yfc meeting. i was meaning to attend [or at least be in] the yfc meeting, but instead practiced for a dance with my fellow sfcs. [for some reason, i missed them].so, spent some quality time with them. janet jackson moves. [but as of press time, i heard they changed it into something else]. oh well. slept at our house that night. felt soooo good! =)

10.8, su
mass at 8.30 with parents. then he left for work, i stayed at the parents house [home alone for the first 2 hours]. his co-workers gave him a simple luncheon party. i should have been there noon but no! i o-v-e-r-slept. nice sleep until mommy v woke me up and told me hubby needs me there. so without a bat of an eyelash i was there. [of course that was exaggerated]. had lunch. they had balloons, cake and nice food. it was fun, a lot of people congratulated me/us [me, since i got there late]. ms. lucy has always been sweet. a lot of them saw my venus [from mr. jd of course] for the 1st time. always proud. =) of course, hubby is a vib [very important bagger]so we just sat there and chilled.no worries, not long after, it was okay to bounce. football with yfc as i stayed in the car for most part of the time catching up with some reading. [finally!] all good. then he went out for dinner at ale house with zel as i went to my all-time favorite Wendy's! with kate. chilled at home as hubby and zel played halo. fell asleep, finally a little earlier than usual. but eventually hubby woke me up for some reasonable reasons. that was monday morning already.

10.9, m
so, it appeared that there were some other more important things than waking up really early and run some long-overdue errands. it was soo worth it. he said CBs galore. i love you too bebe! after we've finally got our lazy selves out of bed, chinese for 'lunch' then watched into the blue. after, went to walmart. wendy's, got my stuff then slumber at parents'. nice monday..

10.10, t
we woke up later than planned. did very-married things today. he got me a new line [he is so becoming a family man] and we opened our first joint bank account. i better start getting used to signing differently now. i dropped the Hubbard middle name already. i am officially a Devera. carrying my husband's name. signed an official document as mrs. jd. he thought it was amusing being indecisive for a split second how i want my name to be. [oh well..] wendy's then slumber at parents' house.

10.12, w
we woke up late -again! Finally had ms. solara oil changed! my goodness, it was taking me forever. then we went to visit my lola and told her the good news. lunch at wendy's. waited and waited for his recruiter. but i will say the wait was worth, i got a HAT! an AF hat [or cap] =) ive been wanting one for so long now. then he had to go to work. Finally did groceries with my sisters. [another long-overdue task]. survival, haha! hubby went to help us around. it's good to have a man to carry the heavy stuff, haha! after, met up with fellow sfc for some bowling. charlot came too plus sarah and brandon. it was fun. another get together before he leaves. im glad it pushed through. for a 2ndtime bowler, my scores were okay, 8 games with mr. jd. wendy's for dinner. take 3 on parents' house.

10.13, th
with nothing much scheduled to do, there was more than enough room for cb. with that said, it was a happy day to wake up to. =) dinner at ninang's house and met up with some friends at ts.
car worked! slumber at parents' again. take 4.

10.14, f
so for today, we went to hear mass at the carmelite monastery. had hubby blessed for tuesday. had lunch with parents at pizza hut then attended some 'legal' stuff, haha!

feels odd staying here at home, 4:32 in the afternoon - for some reason. my sisters have always teased me about being always out with - joseph [as usual]. so for some odd reason, im here home alone waiting for [i dunno]. i just finished cleaning and organizing some stuff. i read my sister's xanga for the first time. she talked about my engagement. i think the whole deal of being married is yet finding its way to settle in my consciousness. dont get me wrong, im excited and looking forward. it's the little things you [or should i say I] cant do much [or maybe, anymore] that make me think. she said that for now, things havent changed but she know eventually it will become so evident that i'll be living my own life. that i'll be leaving soon. no tears. [yet]. it's alright. we'll be alright. few more hours* getting there fast then we'll take it slow.i wish i could so blog about it but i had to put it on hold for now.

the past week after joe's party has been quite a fast ride. there had been serious talks about weddings. pictures, lunch, dinners. but also had some unfavorably unnecessary events. i just shook the bad ones off. there are bigger things happening here.

had lunch with some close family friends today at chili's. nice talk with my auntie. all in the lines of getting married. kept calling me mrs. devera.

let's see what happening tonight. laters!

by the way, you see my counter at the bottom of this blog page? it gives me goosebumps. im terribly going to miss joseph. who do i eat chicken nuggets with? who'll finish my food? who do i share those big cheesecakes with? oh well, there many other things ill miss doing. eight weeks seems bearable but the long wait after is the real deal. tech school. actually for the 1st year* after our engagement, we would not even be together. he said we'll be fine. ya, we'll be fine.

peaceful

today started out around 10:30am. i was having the hardest time sleeping last night. i dont know why. anyway, it was weird, fell asleep around 5.30 in the morning of [err] yesterday.

today was composed of nice things. i met up with melissa, joseph's bestfriend at starbucks for some drinks and talked. 10 delicious yogurts from joe all for the price of 2 sweet kisses! =)

then off to regency with joe to get two very important small things. it felt nice. =) hmm, will it be needing some getting used to? cant get the smiles off our faces for awhile. very giddy! and by the way, dont worry yelena, you'll find the right guy. almost non-stop talking with new found friends at our [becoming a big] favorite 'store'. then dinner at [seems like becoming a staple] mcdonalds. as usual chicken nuggets. then adoration. felt healthier after each time. then walmart after to check some stuff that he'll need for bootcamp then i grabbed some stuff i need. then back to home base.

ive been doing laundry almost the whole day. until now it is past 12.30 oh well. you got to do what you got to do.[what i got to do]. few more hours, few more hours. Peace everyone!

Joseph's going-away party turned something else

so i finally get the chance to blog about joe's party. at 2:01 in the morning of Oct. 4, 2005. well then, let me fill you in.

so the [pretty much] whole week prior to his party was really some quality time with his parents. did groceries together, cooked, prepared, lunch, dinner and everything in between. you get the picture..

so sept. 24, day of the big [by far at that time] party. morning i picked up the cake/s then went to help out at the hall. in the afternoon, we even found time to go to the mall. by dear joseph insisted that i dress up. the dress i wore to the party [to those who have seen it],he picked that up for me. nice color. [pictures will be up soon.] another good thing from the mall, i bought my polaroid [finally, ive been wanting one forever] and of course got his films from target. i was worried ill be too dressed up since general dress code was just casual. he wore his my-favorite button up long-sleeves. i got the biggest crush on him that night. such a cutie - handsome really. he was ooohhh h-o-t! there's just something about that shirt. im so glad you wore that for me. moving on, i got to the party late. [as always, a latecomer, fashionably at least, bwahaha!] no prob. i felt bad because i did not even get to taste the clams i prepared/cooked. for the whole night, i only ate kutsinta and puto.

rundown of the events:

messages for joe [youth]; fashion show :i just got to say cheers to Noel! the dove song was a winner. really nice taste! ; power dance; karate.

come sfc part: sfc video. really nice with the whole effects of cropping and photoshop. then the sfc messages. samba dance. joe had no idea he was going to dance that night. we did the same dance that won us 1st place in the latin nights competition during the singles' conference. well, we didnt do too bad for not praticing for awhile. joe and i pulled it off. then come the how deep is your love song. it was almost ten years ago that i last sang in public. [that was for my parents' renewal of vows, i sang their theme song].did it for joe. im not sure though if he realized that. i would not even sing in karaokes. when the party started, i was feeling too iffy about it. i did it anyway. then joe's speech. it was really touching. he mentioned few of the many important people in his life. by the way, the whole night, i was taking pictures using his beloved camera + my polaroid. so then came to my existence in his life. ready..??

so he started talking about me. how we met, how things started. i stood there, listening, then i took 2/3 pictures while i was on the spot. [to ease the consciousness]. then all those sweet words he spoke of me. itch no.1. then he talked about what my mom told him when they were dancing, then what auntie ruth had been telling him 2 years ago. then how much he wanted to take care of me. itch no. 2. i tried to help him scratch the part. [he had been having allergies since the week before the party so i knew it can be really itchy, besides, i scratch better.] then how he wanted things to turn the right way. itch no. 3, it was really bothering him, he needed to check what it was, something in his sock. OH MY GOSH!. i saw the box, then the REEDS sign. oh my gosh! it was THE VENUS he got a ring. his voice was cracking as he said that with the blessings of my parents and his parents, abigail anne hubbard obrero, will you marry me? i unconsciously took several steps back. i wanted to just watch, cant believe it was happening - to me! i felt my knees go weak. i felt my tears in my eyes, but they didnt make their eyes out to blur my vision of something so beautiful happening before my very eyes. i gained my senses back. walked up to him. felt his lips on mine and held him close. oops, i havent said yes. so i went i love you to say yes i will marry you. it was amazing. one of the best moments of my life. i felt time freeze. everything felt right. how he said it, the ring, how he looked at me, how we kissed, how i said yes, how he put the ring on my finger, how he held me. all for the right reason, of us loving each other. nothing else mattered that time. everything just felt so right.

so suddenly, it was an engagement announcement/party, hugs and congratulations everywhere. im glad to have shared it with family and great friends. im so glad my sisters were there. i have pictures up my dresser to remind me of that moment. amazing, really amazing.
going home, i rode with my fiance. still on an emotional high, we're enagaged. cant stop thinking and saying it over and over again. [both of us]. got to my house, took few pictures. it was a long day-and night, he needed
to go home and get some sleep.

***looking at my ring now, as it sparkles at any angle, i see the beauty of what brought it to my finger and the reason of me wearing it everyday from then on. finding that great love is a prayer answered. all the earthquakes and storms that came before paved way for joseph to be in my life. if i were given the chance to change anything before that very moment, i would not. not even the ones that caused me tears. things were just as perfect as they are. the whole world is waiting for our turn. we will travel the world. ill get pregnant and crave. ill have monthly portraits. we'll have little josephs and little abi-s. we'll wake up beside each other. we'll take care of each other. we'll grow old together.
the best is yet to come for joseph and i. the best is yet to come.

i love you joseph galvan devera. from sunrise til sunset. from fancy restaurants to fastfoods. from sin city to hustle and flows. from lousy cheesecakes to d&b cheesecake. from perfect cbs to the bloopers. from being sexy to being flabby. from pretty toes to black toenails. from the pricey dress to a $10 * dress. from one issue to another. from one happy thought to another. through tears and tickles. from sobs to laughs, i'll be there to experience it all with you. i'll be here, right beside you.
i love you joseph, really really.***
